EA on Steam part 2

So if you saw the photo/post below this one (the one about EA on STEAM) then you know what this post will be about.

In the post below this one I said to go read an even earlier post about EA's DRM that I blogged about so you knew why I was so excited. But i realized it doesn't answer any questions about why i was so happy. lol

Basically, in the email i wrote john, which i didnt reveal due to a possible compromise of trade secrets, i said to him that we should basically adopt a system very similiar to Steam, if not just sell on Steam.

This is why his response (included in the photo of the EA DRM post) included the sentence "...shockinlg close."

Anyway. This post is basically an IN YOUR FACE! OOOOO WHO CALLED THAT ONE!?!!? BOOYAH!

Way to go John. /Clap

Well I'll be damned

It actually happened.

No, You don't understand.

This is intense.

This is crazy!

It actually HAPPENED!

Look at the photo that i took. This is what i was greated with when i launched Steam today.

Now read my blog about my conversation with EA's CEO John.

Yea, badass.

T.G.I Fridays is going out of business

Yep. Strange to hear isn't it?

Apparently it was so sudden that not even the employees knew about it! They showed up to work the other day and their stores were locked up with all the lights off.

I couldnt find any articles just yet about this, but here is one that actually foreshadowed this happening. The article talks about how Friday's failed to renew their leases on buildings.

You can read about it here

It's extremely shocking how sudden this all was. What an interesting choice by the executives.

I can't imagine how poorly the CEO ran Fridays, i know they make a lot of revenue, but the sudden actions of closing the stores without even notifying the employees seems to support my theory of their poor leadership skillz.

You can check out his band, and all their new photos, here. DO IT!

Left2Bed

I love Left4Dead.

Right now, if im not not eating, working, sleeping, or spending time with my girl, im playing Left4Dead. I dread not playing it sometimes and, maybe in some peoples opnions, it's gotten worse. Now i dream about Left4Dead. Dreams that are shockingly similar to this.

Though i have to admit, my dreams are awesome.

EA's DRM

Most of the people reading this blog are probably aware of EA's current DRM policy, and you probably already know what i think of it, or DRM, in general.

DRM is one of those present day dillemas that corporations have to deal with to "combat piracy" for software. Piracy is definitely a problem now days on the PC platform, and it has recently in the last year or so become a problem with consoles as well as on the X360 and PS3.

Pirates mostly reside in China, Korea, and Northern Europe. The piracy rate in alone in South Korea is i beleive 75%, and china is 90% (This sparked the idea of making Battlefield Heroes a Free To Play game, by making money off of micro transactions and advertisments). Now, i don't know if this counts stolen software that is legally purchasable in Korea and China, or if it is special software that isn't available in Korea and China. What i mean by software that is illegal is stuff like, currently in Germany you cannot own the American version of HalfLife2 becuase of the blood and gore. All German versions of games are blood and gore free. You can actually be fined and/or go to prison for owning these games if caught, but I'm sure is just a threat.

Anyways, back to the point of this blog. I recently emailed John Riccitiello (CEO of Electronic Arts) regarding EA's current DRM system. I told him the reason it doesn't work and then I layed out a great alternetive that works for everyone much better then the current system. I won't reveal the idea publicly incase he actually does do something like this, i don't want it to be considered a leak, but DO KNOW that John/EA is trying to create a much better DRM system then the one being used right now.

John responded to me with a response that made me grin simply becuase i was surprised he read it. It seems that he does care after all! :]

If you want a better understanding of the DRM i am talking about, go here and here.

slideshow app

There is a funny application you can add to the side of your blog called slideshow. Basically what it does is display pictures of your choice, kinda.

You type in a keyword and then random photos are displayed in your slideshow that you have no control over. So, being as immature as i am, i typed in "boobs". What do i get? In interesting collection of phots of girls with fake boobs taken by someone who is clearly drunk. Once those photos roll through i am fed someones apparent fetish for asians with fake boobs.

I thought this was so hilarious that i kept it up there. I know my girlfriend is just shaking her head in disapproval right now :P

Yes, i already tried "sex" and the results are hilarious. Oceans, anyone?

wtf is a blog?

I can't beleive i made a blog. You have to understand, for someone like me, that it is incredibly difficult for me to accept the fact that i just made a blog. It's hard! I feel like i am conforming to something, but i have no idea what that would be so. Anyways, i actually have been planning to create a blog... well more like my girlfriend and i were planning on making a blog. But it wasn't going to be a personal blog per se, we were planning on making a resturaunt blog and writing reviews about all the shitty or awesome restraunts we've eaten at.

Technically i guess we could still do that, but she will have to take care of it since i alredy have a myspace and a facebook.

Haha, i just realized she does to. Fuck it!
